FAQ

General

Although I’d like to offer you everything in order to make it as easy as possible for you, there are some important things that you need to provide and, more importantly, own!

I know it looks scary, but it’s quite easy, especially if you read my guides.

Because it’s best for both of us if you own vital parts of your website/business, such as your domain, hosting, email hosting.

Those should be your property and you should have total control over them. My access will be restricted.

In case our collaboration ends, you don’t have to go through a nightmare transferring the domain ownership and the domain itself, choosing another hosting and transferring your files, transferring your emails, and so on.

You can continue with business as usual.

With other freelancers or companies, you might go through additional nightmares, as they can revoke access to your site unless you pay them certain fees or whatever. There are horror stories on both sides everywhere.

With my detailed guides, you can set up everything in, like, 20 minutes, and save yourself the headaches and days of problems in the future.

    SiteHatch is built with WordPress, GeneratePress (theme) and Elementor (page builder).

    I chose WordPress instead of a static website because:

    1. It has quite a lot of content and it was faster to build;
    2. I know that I’ll change stuff quite often;
    3. I have a knowledge base that I’ll probably update often;
    4. I might add a blog in the future.

    Read this guide that I’ve written to find out the pros/cons and differences.

    “starting” (e.g. $199/starting) refers to the starting price. The price can grow depending on the size of your website, blog, or support request (for static website).

    By “my setup”, I mean that I’ll set up and monitor your site on my accounts.

    By “your setup”, I mean that you’ll have to set it up yourself on your own accounts.

    I strongly recommend Cloudways (see guide), but yes, you can choose another one.

    But keep in mind that hosting is vital for your website’s performance, uptime and loading time.

    It’s especially important for WordPress, which is more demanding and needs a properly optimized host. And not many hosts are good for WordPress!

    Unfortunately, no. Since I don’t know your business and niche, I can’t come up with text.

    I’m also not a graphic designer. I don’t create images, illustrations, logos, and so on.

    If you don’t have images for your website or blog, then I’ll use free stock images and illustrations.

    I’m in the UTC+2 time zone, but I don’t have a 9 to 5 schedule. I work all sorts of hours, but I mostly work the second shift. That way, I can cover more time zones, including U.S.

    Payments

    I’m using PayPal because it’s easy, secure, and flexible for both me and my clients.

    I’ll send you an invoice from PayPal to your email address. All you have to do is to click the button and make the payment.

    You don’t need an account for one-time fees. You can simply pay with your credit card.

    You’ll need a PayPal account for monthly/recurring payments.

    WordPress website/blog

    Depending on what plan you choose, you’ll have to subscribe or pay the one-time fee before.

    Static website

    I’ll create your homepage first, so you can see what the design will look like.

    If you’re happy with it, you’ll have to pay the full price, so I can continue working.

    Yes, under certain conditions. Please check the Refund Policy.

    WordPress

    I only work with WordPress.org. WordPress.com is different.

    No. I’m a web developer, but not for WordPress. WordPress has its own ecosystem that needs to be learned.

    I’ve been working with WordPress for 8 years and offering services for 6, though, so I do consider myself an experienced WordPress professional.

    Except for some minor CSS modifications, no. I’ll work with what WordPress, themes and plugins have to offer.

    Yes, but keep in mind that a poorly-developed theme can impact the website’s performance.

    The premium themes I picked and offer for free are well optimized.

    Once I have everything I need, it can take up to 5 working days to finish a basic, 3-page (Homepage, About, Contact) website or blog. The Privacy page is included for free.

    I’ll also add up to 3 articles for blogs because they are usually needed for setting up the design.

    It applies if:

    • The amount of content on those pages is not very large;
    • Your theme doesn’t have a large number of settings that will take a lot of time to figure and test out.

    I can share access to your own property/website on Google Analytics and Search Console, but not on Cloudflare.

    If you wish, you can create them yourself and provide me access to all of them.

    It’s because I’m paying for it yearly, unlike StudioPress themes.

    No, you won’t be able to download the theme, contact support, and so on.

    If you’ve purchased the On-going plan, I’ll take care of that.

    If you want to know what happens to the theme if we stop collaborating, please check the other question.

    If you’ve purchased the One-time plan and you’ll want to download the theme, contact support, etc., you’ll have to create your own account by purchasing that theme.

    The starting price offers 3 pages (Homepage, About, Contact). For blogs, I’ll also add up to 3 articles because they are usually needed to set up the design.

    The Privacy page is included for free.

    If it’s going to be a one-page website, the sections will be considered as pages.

    Yes. In 2014, I decided to start a WordPress services and guides website – ThemeSkills.com. In 2019, I sold it.

    That’s why it’s important to own your domain,  hosting, and email, as I mentioned in the very first General question.

    The rest is easy to transfer or set up again on your own accounts.

    Read this guide to find out what you’ll need to do in case such scenario happens.

    Static Website

    I know HTML, CSS and PHP, and your site will be based on Bootstrap, which is the most popular front-end framework.

    Even though PHP is mainly used to create dynamic sites, I’ll use it a bit for your static website as well, to include files, create your contact form, and so on.

    Once I have everything I need, it can take up to 10 working days to finish a basic, 3-page (Homepage, About, Contact) website. The Privacy page is included for free.

    It also depends on the amount of content that those pages have.

    I can share access to your own property/website on Google Analytics and Search Console, but not on Cloudflare.

    The starting price offers 3 pages (Homepage, About, Contact). The Privacy page is included for free.

    If it’s going to be a one-page website, the sections will be considered as pages.
